To be Completed in Paragraph form: ( you may complete as a work document and then upload it to your wiki or answer directly below)
1. In a well formulated paragraph evaluate how watching the video and reading the lyrics increased your understanding of the major events of the French Revolution. Provide evidence from the video or lyrics
During the French Revolution, inequality, injustice, and oppression drove the cause for reform. In the Lady Gaga video, she sang about 8 sous to 12 sous in a year. It was to mention of how France was in major debt at the time and had to figure out a way to make money. The nobility at the General Estate's tried putting the burden onto the 3rd Estate again, hoping they would again pay all the debts France owes. Another example was the woman's march to Versailles. They marched there because of the expensive prices of bread, the only thing they could ever afford, raised in prices. "The peasants wouldn't pay", meaning the citizens of France would not stand and let the nobility oppress them even more. One last example is that one of the lyrics stated "On a tennis court we swore to a constitution", it refereed to the Tennis Court Oath where the people constructed a new constitution so inequality will not happen again.
2. Identify and explain the lines of the song that describe the causes of the revolution
"It went from 8 sous to 12 in a year"- The 3rd Estate was tired and angry of the nobility always taxing them and how they carry the burden. They are already poor and miserable and do not need to pay the money that they do not have.
"Three Estates ensured nobles favoritism - The Government France had favored the upper class and oppressed the lower class. The peasants saw such inequality and wanted to change the government through the revolution.
"We will not take this poverty anymore"- The 3rd Estate lived in miserable conditions, they had no money, no food, starved, and eventually, they were tired of it while the nobles lived such luxurious lives. They saw how unfair it was and decided to reform.
"On July 14th we stormed the Bastille"- The storming of the Bastille reflected the people's anger and tolerance they had left for the oppression. They attacked it to show their anger and to capture arms for a rebellion.
3. Identify and explain lines that describe changes caused by the Revolution
"On a tennis court we store to a constitution"- The revolution caused a constitution to guarentee that injustice will not occur again.
"We will not take it Louis XVI must die"- The people wanted the King dead for his horrible rule and his guiding of France.
"We took on Austria in a war"- Austria wanted to preserve the monarchy in France when the people wanted to overthrow it.

So what? The French Revolution resulted from inequality and oppression. In order to prevent that, the Declaration of the Rights of Man was created so that the Government will not abuse it's power again. Rights illustrated in the declaration could not be changed or altered. It states the proper role of government and what they cannot deny to it's citizens. The reason for these articles is because these were examples in France where it was abused. The governement restricted human rights, constructed a system where only the wealthy benifit, and created a way where the 97% of the population could not have a way to change their status. The creation of the Declaration is a safe-proof plan to guarentee rights for the French.
